Founded in c.1922 the practice has offices close to York Minster, and the design team of architects and technicians is run by Andrew Boyce. Design team members include Senior Technician and IT Manager Damon Scott, Architect, SPAB Scholar Lucy Stewart and Technician Sean Lilly.
Our work is for a wide client base, offering the full range of architectural services for projects from the design of one-off buildings to intricate and complex solutions associated with the repair, alteration and additions to historic buildings.
We are Inspecting Architects for around 280 churches throughout York, Ripon and Leeds, Wakefield, and Sheffield Diocese, for which we carry out Quinquennial inspections and can provide specifications for repairs, alterations and improvements. Larger church repair projects are carried out under English Heritage/Heritage Lottery grant schemes which we administer on behalf of the PCCs. We carry out projects on schools, university and other buildings in the education sector. The practice is also involved in high quality residential and one-off house projects.
Our client list includes English Heritage; The National Trust; Historic House Hotels Ltd; Pizza Express Restaurants; The University of York; Halifax Building Society Property Services; Uppingham School; Orkney Islands Council; the PCC of Holy Trinity Church, Hull; the Diocese of York and many private clients.
We have a close working association with the Whitworth Co-Partnership who have offices in Bury St Edmunds, Norwich and Bishops Stortford; and we work closely with specialist consultants to provide advice on cost management, structural/civil engineering, historic landscapes and other disciplines.
