Poppleton Preservation Group was formed in 1989 to safeguard this area of Nether Poppleton following closure of Manor Farm of which the barn formed part.
The barn was subject to a number of development proposals before the group were able to make an application for grants to conserve the barn and find an appropriate community use. It was at this feasibility stage that Ferrey & Mennim became involved.
Following further pressure, grants were eventually received and repairs undertaken, and completed at the end of 2000, including construction of a small extension housing kitchen facilities, wc’s and store, allowing the barn to be used for courses, concerts, theatre and exhibitions, and for church functions such as wedding receptions.
The project was completed In 2000
