In April 2001, Ferrey & Mennim were appointed by the York Health Services NHS Trust to carry out further work on an option appraisal study as part of a review of mental health provision in York and surrounding area. This study included a review of buildings at the Trusts site at Clifton in the north of York, as well as the site at Bootham Park.
The study, completed in early 2002, looked in detail at the accommodation required under various options, including refurbishment of the buildings at Bootham Park, extensions to existing buildings and schemes to provide facilities in entirely new built accommodation. It also looked at options to amalgamate and rationalise the provision of facilities to allow surplus land or buildings to be disposed of on the open market.
