In 1998 the Vicar and PCC commissioned Ferrey & Mennim to design vestry and meeting room facilities using the space under the West Tower and extending to the south.
The church was built on a new site in the mid C19, and we agreed that the new extension would have the same scale, materials and details. Fortunately the stone, Bramley Fall sandstone, was still available as were matching Westmoreland roof slates
Work involved making a wide opening through the south side of the tower to link the vestry and meeting room. The floor of the tower room was lowered and a new gallery installed.
All the internal joinery including the pairs of double doors and the new gallery screen was specially made in oak by the builder’s excellent joinery department
